Physical Education at Sandown
Sandown School Sports Crew has a representative from each class from year 1 - 6. The Sports Crew have a very important role to play in school life. Working alongside Mr Anderson they help to select and organise interhouse competitions throughout the school year. They also take a lead during playtimes and help to organise games, source and provide new equipment, encouraging a range of new games to be played. The Sports Crew also get involved sometimes with the organisation of their classes PE lessons.
Ten year 3/4 children took part in a cricket tournament at Parochial school. Many different schools from around Deal took part in the competition. Sandown competed amazingly and a super well done is deserved by the whole team who displayed our collaboration value to its best.
Deal and Dover schools Football league
Massive congratulations to both of our Year 5 /6 football teams. The mixed team finishing the league in second place and our Girls team finishing their league in 3rd place. We are incredibly proud of you all.
Cross Country competition at Northbourne Park School
This year we took 2 amazing teams to Northbourne Park school to take part in the annual Cross country run. The course and terrain being unfamiliar to our runners did not phase them at all. All of the children ran with confidence and determination. Out of 23 teams our teams finished in 7th and 18th place. A wonderful result. Well done to everyone involved.
Kent Cricket visit Sandown School
Today we welcomed representatives from Kent Cricket association to inspire our children. The day started off with assemblies where the children learnt all about the sport and what it means to be a cricketer. Following this, children were treated to workshops throughout the day where they got to learn new skills and put existing and newly learnt knowledge into practice. A great day had by all.
Deal Gymnastics Club
We are incredibly lucky to have such an amazing facility on our doorstep. Every term our Early Years and Year 1 pupils get to spend the morning at Deal Gym club working on their gross motor skills, coordination, balance, upper body strength and of course have a great time doing so. All other year groups from year 2 - 6 also get the opportunity to visit the Gymnastics club each year.
